Hip replacement surgery is also referred to as hip arthroplasty. The patient will be put under spinal or general anaesthesia for hip replacement surgery.

The hip replacement surgeon will make an incision near the hip to remove the diseased or damaged parts of the hip and replace them with prosthetic implants.

Patients with arthritis or significant hip pain are frequently candidates for this surgery.
