Steps To Perform Kumkumarchana For Devi
Follow these simple steps to perform Kumkumarchana for Goddess Devi at your home or temple.
1. Preparation:
Pick out a clean and noise-free place. Put up a picture or statue of the goddess Durga or any of her forms (e.g. Lalita Tripura Sundari, Mahalakshmi, etc.).
Prepare the things for the puja as per the list:
kumkum, flowers, fruits, one sweet, a lamp (diya), incense sticks (agarbatti), and a plate or a Sri Yantra for the kumkum offering.
2. Invocation:
Light the lamp with the incense sticks. Take the puja sankalpa (a solemn vow) with a deep feeling of dedication. Start the puja by chanting Ganesha prayers for easy and successful work.
3. The Ritual:
Start by applying kumkum to the idol or the photo of the Goddess.
Take a small amount of kumkum with your right hand (use your thumb, middle, and ring finger) and offer a little at the feet of the Goddess or on the Sri Yantra while repeating the mantra or the names of the Goddess.
Popularly, people recite the Lalita Sahasranama or Lalita Trishati by offering kumkuma for every name recitation.
4. Offerings and Aarti:
After the archana, offer flowers, fruits, and sweets (prasad) to the Goddess. Aarti can be done along with a bhajan or a prayer being recited.
The flame from the lamp is being waved in a circular motion in front of the deity.
Outcome:
End with distributing the archana kumkuma and prasad to all family members and spreading the positive energy of the ritual.
Kumkum from the puja can be used daily as a blessing.
