Premature Ejaculation Causes and Symptoms
When orgasm is experienced by a man and semen is expelled soon after the sexual activity with minimum penile stimulation, such a situation is called premature ejaculation (PE).
Early ejaculation, rapid climax, premature climax, ejaculation praecox, and rapid ejaculation are some other names by which it is referred.
The International Society for Sexual Medicines has concluded that the ejaculation that occurs at the very beginning of sexual intercourse, say within 15 seconds, is termed “premature ejaculation.
Premature ejaculation is the inability to delay the ejaculation of the semen.
If such situation occurs frequently, medical consultation is necessary.
This problem can occur in all ages, but it is the middle-aged men that are more affected by it.
Symptoms of Premature Ejaculation
One of the major symptoms of premature ejaculation is the inability to delay ejaculation for more than 15 seconds.
Premature ejaculations are divided into two categories: primary and secondary, also known as lifelong and acquired, respectively.
When a person experiences early ejaculation from the very beginning, that means, from his first sexual intercourse, he is said to have primary or lifelong ejaculation.
If this problem of early ejaculation develops later, that is, after prior sexual experience, it is termed as secondary or acquired ejaculation.
Premature ejaculation can develop a feeling of embarrassment in men that can even result in depression.
One should not avoid such symptoms and should consult a good doctor regarding the problem.
Diagnosis of PE
The first step in diagnosing PE is to check that the patient is suffering from lifelong ejaculation or acquired premature ejaculation.
The doctor can conduct a physical examination.
Generally, previous history is also considered.
However, in some cases, doctors recommend a visit to the urologist, or you can say a mental health expert.
Blood tests and urine tests are also recommended in some cases.
Treatment for PE
There are several ways and medications by which the PE can be treated.
Anaesthetic sprays and creams are also helpful in this problem.
Antidepressants, analgesics, and phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors are some other medicines that are suggested for PE patients.
Counselling, or you can say talk therapy, is also helpful.
There are some techniques, such as the pause-squeeze technique and the behavioural techniques, that are instructed by the doctor for better effect.
The above were the symptoms and treatment for premature ejaculation.
If you have such problems, do not hesitate to consult your doctor.
Only proper medical advice will help you get rid of your problem.
