In a study, it was found that a 50-year-old woman burnt around 9 percent lesser calories in one day than she burnt in her early twenties. Even if the health of the person remains the same, the requirement for calorie reduces by 20 percent by the time you become 70 years of age.

    To avoid gaining weight during your middle age, you musts increase your activity so that you burn more calories. Doctors advise intake of around 2000 to 2300 calories per day for a middle-aged person. The requirement may differ according to your height and build up but in any case, the calorie intake should never be below 1500  and above 2300 calories. This calorie intake is recommended for a normal middle-aged man/woman who is active.
