Who are Gynecologists?

Gynecologists are specially trained in obstetrics – the care taken for women who are going through pregnancy & childbirth.

What do Gynecologists do?

Usually, a gynecologist performs various tests & exams on women’s health. They responsibly perform a standard yearly exam on adult women in order to ensure their reproductive health.

At the time of performing the test, gynecologist examines the woman physically by performing a pap smear, complete breast examination, STD tests & monitor the woman’s use of birth control.

Also, in some cases, certified obstetricians, monitors mother health & fetus during pregnancy and perform minor surgeries on women’s reproductive organs, like tube tying.

Further, gynecologist monitors few of the same medical issues in women as a general practitioner. For instance, if a woman is suffering from diabetes, then a gynecological specialist informs and alerts her of how diabetes is impacting her reproductive organs.

Even, Gynecologists diagnose the problems related to the women reproductive organs, such as PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) or cervical cancer. Moreover, vaginal infections, urinary tract infections resulting lower abdominal pain or sexual pain are handled by Gynecologists.
