Meditation is a technique that allows you to train your mind through focusing on an object; an object may be a word or phrase, or your breathing, or any other object like a flame of a candle.

The Australian Teachers of Meditation Association define it as,
“Meditation is a discipline that involves turning the mind and attention inward and focusing on a single thought image, object or being”.

    Benefits of Meditation

During the meditation, a wide variety of changes has been seen in the body and brain. FMRI scan conducted on a person before and after meditation reveals that brain after meditation does not process information as energetically as it does normally. Reduction in beta waves has been observed in the examination. Other changes are –

    Frontal lobe

this part of the brain is connected to the strength of reasoning, emotions, planning, and self-conscious awareness of people. It is noticed that during meditation, this part of the brain goes offline.

    Parietal lobe

it is responsible for processing sensory information about our surroundings; it also gets less active when we meditate.
